LRP Masters report from Andy Moore

Tue, 3rd April 2012

Once a year the legendary LRP Masters race brings the Worlds top TC drivers to Eppelheim in Germany and this year saw some awesome racing. I always enjoy visiting Germany and it was good to see many of my friends at the race. 4 rounds of practice got underway on Friday afternoon and ran until late, eventually winding up with the last heat at just before 11pm. As the traction takes some time to build up at this race I used my practice runs to test 2 new chassis' we are evaluating for the new TC-XX and also broke in my race tyres so they were in good shape for qualifying on Saturday.

Qualifying was 2 rounds to count from 5 so everyone knew it was going to be tight for the top 10. My car felt good though and after a motor issue in Q1 I was able to finish top 10 in each of the other rounds securing 8th in the Main with a 5th and 7th place counting. With the track being so tight the finals were always going to be close and there were very few passing places. In A1 I was only able to move up 1 spot while everyone pretty much finished in quali order. A2 I got through the first laps clean and after a couple of incidents up front I picked up 5th a few seconds off the leading pack. Unfortunately A3 was a nightmare, I got caught in a first corner crash and needing a marshal which left me way behind. So with a 5th and 7th (coincidently the same score as I got in qualifying) I finally finished 6th overall. The TCX-X drove wonderfully, it's a fantastic evolution of the HB chassis and should do really well in the hands of racers once it's released.
