Team HB Going Strong at the Euro's

Thu, 7th August 2008

Last weekend's European Touring Car Championships in Villa Real, Spain, proves that the international Hot Bodies team is still at the top of their game! The competition, as always, was extremely close, with drivers qualifying within a hairs-breadth of each other, everything came down to the wire at the end of the grueling qualification rounds! In the end Ronald Volker claimed pole position and Andy Moore would start fourth on the grid in the A Final race, which was populated with National and World Champions, plus the top racers from around Europe!

Ronald had a rough time in the first leg of the A Final but held off the future winner and fellow German Marc Rheinard until an unfortunate touch; Andy had an even worse time, getting spun around twice in separate incidents during the 5-minute race. With a roll in the second race giving the win to Marc (a win that would be discounted because of his battery cells), Ronald bounced back with a new set of tyres in the third A Final to take the win and solidify third place on the podium.

If it weren't for a dodgy set of tyres, who know what might have happened? Top-level racing in the most competitive classes of RC is so close that it's impossible to discount luck and prepare for everything, and we know that Team HB will be always at the sharp end of the field, going for victory all the way! Many thanks to RedRC.net for the use of their excellent photos!
